What ENT problemas require that admision of the patients? Besides head and neck cancers and some airways...

Thanks....excuse my english...Im costarrican 🙂

-Young children after T&A

-Post otologic patients who are too dizzy to go home

-Post neck mass excision patients for drain management

- post acoustic neuroma removal patients

- Neck space infections

- cancer patients as you mentioned take up the bulk of an ENT inpatient service

- lots of consult patients for trach management, etc

great list above.

OSA surgery espcially if AHI is >20

I tend to get consulted on a heck of a lot of dizzy patients who are admitted to the hospitalist service.

Re-admits for post-tonsillectomy complications (bleeding, dehydration)--fortunately not common.

Lots of trauma gets admitted but mostly for issues for other services (e.g. concomitant ortho or neuro injuries).

Some upper aerodigestive tract surgery (some laryngeal procedures like thyroplasty, and some esophageal things like zenker's diverticulectomies).
