Hey guys,

I want to pursue dentistry and eventually apply to Dental Schools.

Now my main question is with Math.

How many years of Math are needed or GOOD for applying to Dental Schools.

I plan on taking Calculus I come September as a Freshman in College.

Thanks

I don't think many schools require math courses (mainly physics, organic, general chem, bio, and some upper levels like biochem). Some do I believe, and Calc I and II should probably be sufficient.

It varies between schools.

I remember reading on SDN that a couple schools require calculus, but none of the schools that I plan on applying do, so take that information for what it's worth.

The main school I'm looking at is the University of Minnesota and this is taken word for word off of their website.
"A minimum of 3 semester credits in one of the following courses: college algebra or precalculus by college credit or college validation, computer science, or statistics."

If you want to take more math then just pre-calculus or college algebra that's not a bad idea, if you're good at math 😛, because math is considered a science.

You're always on this website, do you have a life or you just sit on your computer with no friends?

true, your not being an a-hole i am. i just don't trust ppl on this website that claim to talk to the adcoms and yet they never post any questions or post any stats of their own. he gets all his information from adcoms and says he "passes the information along" which i think is shady. are you a dentist, a dental student? if not then i don't really think you have any credibility. i just want ppl on this site to be wary of posters like 4thmolar and others like him, they are probably trying to sabotage you.

Um, how was his advice sabotage? It's the truth.

Also, a lot of people are on this website all the time. The application process is stressful and it's nice to know what other predents are up to.
