Hey everyone,

I'm tryin to include that I'm CPR and First Aid certified in the works/activities section but I'm not sure what to put for the "hours" part. I was certified and still am, but I'm not an EMT so I don't have a chance to practice it at all for hours. What should I do? Just put down the time until it expires? I just put it in the Awards section for AACOMAS. That was easy.

I included my ACLS certification on my AMCAS and, like you, did not have any chance to put it into into practice. I listed it under other and listed how many hours it took to become certified. I basically described mine as a chance to get my feet wet with emergency medicine and a chance to interact with experienced individuals. I don't know how important listing these certifications are, or how seriously adcoms take them, but that is how I handled a very similar situation.

I suggest squeezing mention of the certifications into another activity description where they might have been (or were) useful rather than listing them on their own. Or leave them out.
