I'm currently in the second half of my spring semester as a Junior. I recently transferred from a school which did not have committee letters to a school that does have committee letters; both are state schools but the school I'm in now is known to be more "competitive."
Currently these are the options I have for LORs...
-orgo professor from my old school for a LOR
-summer internship supervisor for a LOR
-physician I have about ~60hours of shadowing with for a LOR
-immunology professor and future lab supervisor when I join his lab next year
I spent my freshman/soph year at old school and have spoken with other pre-meds here at new school if they plan on using committee letter.. I was told that the pre-health department isn't close with students, only act as a mediator between students/schools without developing any personal ties with the students.
I plan on applying after my senior year leaving me with a gap year. I was wondering if I should continue to pursue a committee letter having spent only 1.5years at this school as the letter process begins right after fall-semester of applying year.
If I forgo a committee letter will this negatively impact my application even though I am a transfer student here?
Thank you.
