Environmental Medicine

Can anyone definitely tell me what Environmental medicine is? I like medicine. I like the environment. But from what I read, Env. Med goes along, but not in the way I like them to go along. I'm really not interested in what I've read because it seems more research oriented and less patient oriented. In a sense, I want to be a Primary Care doc that specializes in environmental illness/injuries. Any ideas on how I can do that? don't even know if this is the right forum. Sorry.

Hmm, I think that the closest thing that medicine has to that is occupational/preventative medicine. They deal with environmental issues in the way that the effect worker's health. You don't even have to work for a company, some have private practices and see patients who need experts for worker's comp and things like that.

I have prepared a brief presentations for you to review. Please pretend that I am lecturing to you as you go through them. You also might be on a computer with a fast internet connection, as they are fairly large.

Random dude- I'm also potentially interested in environmental medicine... Did you end up pursuing this??? I'm debating about doing a fellowship in occupational/environmental medicine - I'm not so much interested in the occ med part(work health etc) but think that environmental med /toxicology / exposures sounds really interesting. Just not sure what job actually exists for that. Appreciate any input!
