Enzyme Kinematics Question

My professor said that low Km means low Vmax, and I'm confused about that. Wouldn't a low Km mean higher affinity of the enzyme for the substrate and threfore the Vmax should be higher?

You may have misunderstood your professor. Changing Km does not necessarily mean changing Vmax. For example, a competitive inhibitor increases Km without changing Vmax.
