I was under the impression sinai is either full or not taking anyone this year. I can try to confirm that.Speaking of Sinai, anyone heard anything from them? Or WashU?

A big take-home from this season: there were a LOT of places who signed up for ERAS and took our fees with no intention of interviewing (not everyone listed above, to be fair, but also there is no way to count sham interviews). Would be nice if HRS addressed this in the future.
Yale, VCU, and Cedars have already sent invites, per applicants on the trail. Anyone heard anything from Duke or WashU?
Besides those two and Penn, other places that have been radio silent on my radar: UF, UTSW, UChicago, Loyola, St Vincents, Rochester NY. Doesn't look like much else will be coming in at this point.
Some programs accept externally funded fellows, often with contractual partnerships from foreign countries, [predominantly Asian]. While my personal opinions on the nature of Penn are likely more aligned with yours than not, I am not sure a reduction in numbers is reflective of malignancy. I am also certain that achieving mastery of complex VT ablations does not require the long hours Penn necessitates, but I have yet to meet a poorly or even mediocre trained Penn graduate. They all seem to have mastery of complex ablations. For someone looking to achieve those skills, Penn would be a highly ranked program. So I just looked at NRMP site and it seems Penn has reduced its matched spots from 6 to 4 indicating they have given pre matches most likely to internals?? On their website they say all spots will be filled through match which is not the case now. I guess they seem skeptical that people they really want may not rank them higher so decided to give them pre match. Another clue of malignant nature of the program.

Lol. You seem to be a very diligent prosecutor hired by anti-Penn lobby. Anyway, jokes apart Penn is a program designed for candidates with a very specific interest and career goal.
Would add UC programs as well (UCSF, UCLA and also UCSD). Also have seen people landing good academic jobs from programs such as UPMC, NYU, Mount Sinai and Cornell.I guess its middle of interview season for everyone. When it comes to landing an academic job, what do you guys think about the programs you have interviewed at? I think Michigan, Mayo, Vandy, Hopkins, Harvard programs, Penn(yet to interview) are best bet. Again, this is only with reference to those of us who are quite certain that they want to stay in academics. What do you all think?
Finally official rejection from Cleveland Clinic today. 😀
From reliable sources: At Ohio state, they are definitely going to fill one position with an internal applicant. For the other position, they are considering the other internal versus outside applicants. The other internal applicant apparently also wants to stay in the program.
I didn’t mean to cause a he-said she-said. Just looking to avoid paying another few hundred dollars if there is minimal chance of matching at a program. I’ll try to reach out to the program tomorrow.I doubt that, have met this internal applicant at some interviews, I guess he is exploring outside options.

is there any interest in starting a slack group, like they did last year? seems like it might be a smoother venue for sharing the latest intel about spots filling internally, red flags that programs weren’t upfront about, etc.
Plus it might be cool to see where everyone ends up after all this, since so many of us have gotten to know each other at interviews.
Just throwing that out there
