EP Cardiology vs. Interventional

I've gone to other sites and learned of the differences. However, this subspecialty isn't talked about very much. Any one here interested in or practicing in EP? As an electrical engineer undergrad/pre-med I'm especially interested in this area. I've set up a time to shadow a local ep doc, but that doesn't begin for another month. What leads most people to choose
EP vs Interventional? I assume that the greater need for interventional is one reason why.
