I have noticed some problems with the current ephedrine we use at our current facility. I am questioning the batch. I use it at a concentration of 5mg/ml. I have given doses of 10-15mg with no response in heart rate or blood pressure. These patients are typically healthy that need a small bump in pressures. They are non- drug users, no psychtropic meds, or cocaine users. Nothing that would make me think that they have depleated their postsynaptic vessels of catecholamines. Of note the average person here uses sports supplement. This has occur on multiple occasions. Any thoughts?

Any chance they use sympathetic stimulants, such as pseudoephedrine, on a regular basis? Maybe as part of their sports supplement? That could cause tachyphylaxis.

Or maybe you just have a bad batch of ephedrine.
