For those that have any experience with scribes on the EPIC system that have had experience with scribes on another EHR, what are your thought on EPIC versus another EMR with scribes?

I have used EPIC without scribes, and have scribes using another EMR now. Where there any problems, particularly the sharing and/or editing of the chart contemporaneously with the scribe? Having used epic without a scribe, I feel it would be awesome, so long as the chart access is not micro managed by epic.
I have used epic at a few sites over the years and I see a lot of variation in little details, so I am certain there will be a lot dependent on what EPIC product is rolled out too.

Thanks!

While I personally haven't had the opportunity to work with Epic + scribes, our residency uses them for upper levels. Everyone find the combination to work well. The scribe is able to create a note, write the h&p/exam/ros, then share the note. The physician then takes over the note, adds the plan and makes any necessary changes to the rest of the note and signs it. Everyone loves it once they reach second year and have scribe use.

I agree. We use scribes currently but use a different EMR, but the scribes are awesome and a huge asset.

Oh man...the thought of having a scribe to do the tedious parts of my documentation makes me salivate. I swear if my place of work as an attending doesn't use scribes I'll just hire my own that will work every shift with me.
