Equal Chance before December Interview?

Hi

I'm just wondering if candidates have equal chance if they have interview before December.

I know that earlier is better.
Does it mean that a candidate who has the interview in Sept has better chance of getting in than a canditate who has the interview in Oct/Nov?

Your chances are not increased by applying early. Early application is not a good substitute for good stats.

An early application is not the most critical factor in acceptance. However, I would never advocate procrastination when it comes to applying. Below average stats are not overlooked if you apply in early summer. But if your stats are average or above average and you interview early, it does not make sense how this could not play to your advantage. I just interviewed at three schools, and each one commended me for my early application.

A "procrastinator" with above average stats would make a better choice than an early bird with mediocre stats who may be at risk at being accepted early in ds but also make an early exit out of school due to academic under performance.

OOPS. I sincerely meant to write "even below average stats are overlooked if you apply early." Thus, trying to reiterate no matter how early you apply, bad stats are bad stats.

I don't think the OP was asking whether applying early would negate below average stats but was merely asking whether interviewing later in the cycle would put his/her application at more of a disadvantage.

I am wondering the same thing, If you interview Oct 3 or November 10th is there much of a difference?

Wow. This coming from a guy with 5 INTERVIEWS!!! Thanks for implying the only reason this idiot got an interview was my residency.

Yes,
I was asking about the interview date.
I sumitted my application in MAy and took DAT in July.

I have to decide the date between Oct 18 and Nov 9th interview.
Hopefully it would be the same chance.

Anyone know?

To quote from the medical forum which I'm sure applies equally to dental:

"Try to pick the earliest day for interviewing the school offers. Ideally, you want the first day available on their schedule to interview, but realistically the first few weeks of interviewing are all excellent. As already mentioned, as time passes with a rolling admissions process, your chance of gaining admission decreases due to spots being filled with students and more applicants still arriving to be considered. Applying as early as possible, interviewing on the first day possible, etc. gives you a huge advantage."

While I do advocate interviewing early in the cycle I consider early as anything before they have made their first acceptances. Med schools can immediately accept you after the interview. At dental schools they have to wait till at least Dec 1. If you interview early that means you stood out. If you interview closer to Dec 1 you might be remembered easier. As long as the interview is before Dec 1 or the admissions committee meeting to decide the acceptances you are fine.

To the OP go for when you schedule allows easiest. No reason to add undue stress to your interview like having an exam the next day.

I just called the school and she said before December interviews are all same. But if it is after December, earlier is better.
