Equal emphasis PhD programs?

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about good clinical PhD programs that emphasize clinical and research about equally? Thank you

I've also heard Brooklyn College has either a research (3 yr) or clinical (5 yr) track... are these separate or can they be done at the same time?

I had the impression that CUNY wasn't exactly equal emphasis, that it was leaning more toward the clinical side, but then again it seems like on here when people ask for "balanced" programs, that's often what they are in fact looking for.

I've also heard the Adelphi is very psychodynamic. Certainly all of their graduates that I know are.

I'm not sure what your research interests are, but even if you aren't big into research, it's going to be pretty difficult to get into even an "equal-emphasis" program if it doens't have professor/s doing research in your area of interest, due to the ever-important aspect of 'fit.'

You might want to find all of the programs that offer what you want to study and then figure out which ones are equal-emphasis. A good way to do this is by using the Insider's Guide to Graduate Programs in Clinical and Cousneling Psychology.

Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine considers their program very even on both research and emphasis on clinical practice. They do say that their ultimate goal is to set you up to work in a medical center like a VA or university-affiliated hospital/clinic etc. where you do research but see clients etc (as opposed to being a professor who teaches and does research). Personally, I liked that - biggest draw back is that they only cover 50% tuition.

Washington State SIU-Carbondale are both very balanced....

A professor I ran into said that Memphis was very research-oriented. However, this could have been when she attended the institution (90s I believe).
