The ERAS application to residency programs this year will start 2 weeks later than it usually do, it means it will start on September 15th 2012. This will give the applicants more time to gather their LORs and select the programs to apply to but this will give the program directors less time to decide who to interview.
 
This is much more complicated. Yes, ERAS applications get released Sept 15th rather than Sept 1. However MSPE's get released Oct 1 rather than Nov 1. So, whether we get less time to choose applicants, or more time with a complete application (because of the earlier MSPE release) is a matter of some debate. It depends on how you look at it. Whether invites go out earlier, later, or the same time is going to depend upon the program.
