Curious if you guys are choosing to include your school's health day poster presentation or something similar as "Poster Presentation" in ERAS. I see the merits of both sides.

Personally, I only have 2 legit conference posters so I might choose to include this one as well.

Depends:

If it's some random unofficial fair or something like that then no

If it's a conference held by/at your school where you had to submit an abstract etc, then its probably fair game to put. Lots of schools will have like mini conferences where students can get a poster out of their summer research, etc. That's fair game, but presenting random stuff at some school event is not a poster presentation

It was a school only event that everyone presented a poster in with their group. Each group had a different project for a community health outcome and created a poster. No abstract needed to be accepted as everyone presents. What are your thoughts?

That sounds like a TBL/PBL activity and probably wouldn't count. Mandatory class activities shouldn't be counted towards ERAS research.

Was it an actual research project you guys did with data, or was it more just googling a topic and presenting about it? The first might be acceptable as you could talk about and the process, but it would be hard to spin the latter one as a "poster presentation". But IDK the exact context or material so I can't tell you for sure one way or another.

You just don't want to get asked about it and have people think it wasn't a real research experience when you talk about it. And with only 3 posters you may get asked about it.

We collected baseline data for health knowledge, staged an intervention, and collected results again, analyzing and comparing the data. We we did collect and interpret data, but the most basic of.

yeah include it
Wow man, I was looking through my old pre-med posts when I was applying for med school due to nostalgia, and came across this thread 4 years ago where you replied Withdrew from summer orgo

Well I did end up making it into med school and now I'm applying to residency 🙂
Looks like you've done pretty well for yourself too!

Agree with including it. Just label it with its correct name. It’s pretty easy to tell what sort of meetings they are.

That said, anything you list is fair game for questions and discussion during an interview.

yep, that counts

I deleted my other post as I was leaning towards just a soft no before, but after thinking about it more, this is definitely a hard no to list as a presentation.

"3) "Presentations" refer to presentations that have been FORMALLY accepted or invited at regional or national academic meetings. Presentations that you do in the context of your education, for instance on rounds or in clerkship conferences, etc. are NOT academic presentations and should not be listed on your CV."

It really does seem like there are so many different interpretations and no official answer from ERAS itself. Uchicago specifically said to include internal presentations. Wish ERAS would be more clear with what they want.

What the OP is talking about sounds like a relatively formal regional meeting. It doesn't sound like a regular part of rounds/clerkships like tumor board or journal club.
