  1. Medical Student
OMS-IV applying for neurology this cycle. All of my materials are in the ERAS system and ready to be submitted tomorrow except for my only neurology LoR (as a DO student, neuro is not a core rotation thus I have only done 1 neuro rotation, my next one being in October). Unfortunately my letter writer is out of the country until one week after ERAS opens. I have 3 other letters: Psych, Neuroscience Research faculty member, general surgery (a particularly good rotation). The way I look at it, I have two choices:

1) submit ERAS with 2 LoR's from Psych and Neuroscience when ERAS opens and submit 3rd LoR when uploaded by neurology preceptor OR
2) wait until application is complete with LoR from neurologist and submit sometime next week

My concern is the whether this delay will diminish my chances of landing interviews as I do remember when applying for medical school this was the case (everyone is advised to apply early).

What is the best thing to do here? Any input would be much appreciated, especially from someone who has experience with this.

Thank you so much!

similar boat. I would like some answers.

My school is recommending that we still apply. We had a meeting today and they said most program directors will anticipate that you will be missing letters and that most (especially the competitive programs) will not get serious about applications til next month. By that time, your letters will be in.

I am missing one letter (not my neurology one), I know it is annoying and my application feels incomplete, but I think it is best to apply.

Remember also, deans letters can't be released til October 1st and most schools are not going to offer interviews before they receive deans letter.

I'm in the same boat as well. I'm waiting on my Neuro LOR to be processed by ECFMG.
