Sorry to bother everyone but what do you think is going on here? Is it going to show up this crazy looking for the program director? Why does it keep saying "replaced by newer file..." is my school doing something wacky to my letters?

Looks like your dean's office re-uploaded the letters. Perhaps they didn't scan well the first time. Regardless, it all happened before they were downloaded by the program. They will only see the letter as it exists now in ERAS.

And things like this will continue to happen throughout the season. The year I applied there was an ERAS hiccup one day and every single document in my file got "replaced by newer document."

Unless the status changes to "Deleted because we felt like it" I wouldn't worry about it.

It is really too bad that April fool's day does not fall during the application / match season, because a prank like this would be just too classic. Almost certainly end up with the prankster fired, but such is the cost of a really good prank.

I'm thinking maybe I should try to get a job @ ERAS...just to do this. Of course, it would only be useful for pranking fellowship applicants (who are, on the whole, a hair more chill than residency applicants), it would still be sweet.

right on, thanks. I was just worried it would look as schizophrenic on their screen as it does on mine.

by the way, that kind of a prank with those of us as wound tightly as I am at this moment may lead to my brain imploding.

I know...that's the only reason to do it. The sound of thousands of MS4's heads exploding in unison (or better yet, one after the other over the course of 24 hours) would be so awesome.
