Does it look bad if you submit more than four LORs if the program's minimum requirement is only three letters? Besides looking up on Freida and individual webstites, are there any other places to look up LOR requirements?

Thanks to you all.

I was just going to ask the same question. Rather than start a new thread, hopefully someone will answer this one...
Is five LOR overkill for a program which requires only 3? or are 4 LOR viewed as better than 5.

I dont think so. I have submitted 4 for all the programs I applied to.

And here I thought you submit the exact amount else you will confuse the program.

Hey everyone,

Be careful with this. Most programs don't seem to care, so submitting 4 letters doesn't hurt, but some DO specify on their websites and/or FREIDA that they only accept a certain # of letters (for example, UIC Internal Medicine only accepts 3 - that's including the medicine departmental letter.)

If you're not sure, look up the department's residency page and application information and FREIDA for more details. If you're really concerned, contact the program administrator.
