Is it your expectation that surgeons order preop meds and/or ERAS protocol? And if the surgeons don’t typically order anything, would you step in and start running it?

My experience in academics has always been that the surgeons order the preop meds, testing related to the surgery etc and we might order some investigative tests ourself on a patient by patient basis. However, my current job has a mixed bag of surgeons so I never know what my patients might or might not have ordered preop (more specifically meds like Tylenol, celebrex, gabap etc).

I order Tylenol and any pre-op PONV ppx I thing is warranted. Surgeons will order the other stuff like Celebrex and gabapentin.
