ERAS personal statement word count

I know this has been asked a lot of times but I think we are all trying to fit our personal statement down to 1 page. However, that means different for different formats. As some people have said recently, the formatting has gone down to Times New Roman, 8 font, which seems too small to me.

I am curious to ask what word count is safe, or what everybody's word count is.
