In filling out the 'resume' portion of ERAS, any advice on how descriptive I should be in the area of 'description (up to 1020 characters)'. 1020 characters can add up to half of a page. Should I be brief and leave the details for the interview?
Any advice appreciated...

Thanks

succint is best. you want your cv to fit on 2 pages max when you type it out regularly, so put whatever would be on your cv in that section. if there's something particularly outstanding a couple of sentences would be ok, otherwise keep it to the bullet points and save the rest for interviews.

Anon is right. ASAP (as short as possible). EM attendings like things short and sweet (like their medical student H&Ps)

Q, DO

Will do...thanks

Sorry to dig up such an old post, but I wanted some feedback on CV length. In your opinions, is a 1 page CV preferable to a 2 page, or is the key just to keep it at 2 pages or less?

I thought a resume was supposed to be 1 page...

and the CV can be ALAP (as long as possible)...

true?

For ERAS it doesn't really matter - just fill in all the questions. In general a CV can be quite long (if you've been faculty for like 20 years) and a resume is the short version targeted at the job you are trying to get. But neither of these things matters for ERAS - just fill in the questions. ERAS will do the rest.

For the Personal Statement it should be 1 page.

if you think it's important and will set you apart from the rest, put it down. the PD will recognize the pertinent information, no matter how many pages. that's his/her job

Sorry to dig up a really old thread (using search feature), is everyone still filling out mainly one liners to describe their activities?

I can't speak to your question, but you will get no argument from me for using the search function, and, instead, major props. And more props for an 8 year bump! See, your question is germane, so it's good!

Yeah, I did 2-3 liners. Just enough to give them something to read, but not enough to bore them.

🙁 My CV in ERAS ended up being about 3 pages :s ..... Can't delete anymore stuff :scared:

my PS is 1 page and 1 paragraph, working on editing it.

CV is allowed to be long. This isn't a job specific resume. Just don't go overboard on descriptions, let them ask you questions in an interview.
