I cannot see how it would hurt. As long as you are articulate when you have your interview and you can write a mostly coherent essay, I would suspect that the adcom could care less about an ESL class.

Plus, it just MIGHT help a little by showing that you have the initiative to polish your communication skills.

Either way, I dont think you need to worry about it.
