Has anyone had experience with this service? Any positive/negative comments (besides the obvious expensiveness). For those who have used this service in the past, would you recommend any particular editor by last name for medical school essay editing (as this is an option on their site)?

Thanks in advance!

I was very satisfied with essay edge. My editor was Graeme Wood.

Do a thread search on this topic; you can read my comments about this company there.

I've done a search by thread, thank you for the advice! It looks as though most people were happy with the service. Any helpful information regarding editors for med school essays?

Thank you

My premed advisor told me that the ADCOMs can tell if you used that service. He told me that there is a web site (refused to tell me the site) where they can tell if the paper has been written or edited by these services. Has anyone else heard of this?

I could not imagine ADCOMs having the time to use such a strategy, with all of the applicants, etc. However, one does wonder what they do in all the months leading to decision time 😀

Furthermore, it is an editing service, they do not actually write the essays for you, right?

Interesting.

I just inquired to Essayedge.com and this was their response:

There are usually plenty of SND people willing to read your personal statement and provide comments. That is certainly a cheaper option.

I don't know if their services are worth the price. I think most peopel can get the same feed back from friend, family or collegues who are willing to read our applications. You still have to write the essays - that's the hard part!

Thats what I did and my essay turned out pretty fine.........all because of SDN community....and without any money.......some people on this board are really good and I really got sincere advice regarding me essay.......

for what its worth.....my $0.02

Well, the SDN community is premed and med students, which usually does not correlate well with writing skill.

Kinda sick that none of you have the morality to see you'd be (have been) cheating to get into med school by having someone else write your essay and turn it in as your own. This has been discussed in other threads before, I am sure.

Wait, don't med schools expect you to have a thoroughly editted personal statement, read over by many sources and changed accordingly? And if you pay someone to edit it, how is that any different?

They expect you to type it with your own little fingers and brain.
