hey guys,
i'm in the middle of applying here but wanted to get some outside help. i was checking out essayedge.com and was bout to sign up when i came across medschoolcoach.com. does anyone know anything about them versus essayedge? they seem to be more in tune with med school apps than essayedge, but i'd like to get some feedback if anyone has used them before. thanks

i posted this question on the md forum too

i found a professional editor to do nothing but slow me down, he edited my essay last year to sound pretty good, but it just flat out was not me, if someone who knew me read it, they woulda been like, wtf?

If you really want help, find someone you know personally and who knows you, and is a good writer. Itll save you money, and most of all keep the essay personal, these editors dont know you and i personally would never ever use one again.

Also, they have a lot of clients, your app will be slower to get out the door, it took me extra weeks waiting for the guy.

i will second the reply...do not use those websites. A. its unethical (its not you or someone that even knows you) and B. its a waste of money. utilize siblings, parents, friends, professors, people on SDN. You will find plenty of good free input that will save you time and trouble. good luck, and make sure you stay away from those sites.

Nearly every university has a writing center or career center of some sort. They'll edit and perfect any essay for free. Use it if you have it....if not, well then talk to someone in the english department as well. I'd say friends or family..but they don't necessarily know much about editing or personal statements or whatever else.

thanks for the advice guys, but i actually just signed up for themedschoolcoach.com package thingy. so far so good. i talked to them on the phone first and the guy was pretty awesome. seemed really knowledgable about the whole process and they got my first edit back asap. i'll keep updated on how it goes from here... i decided that while parents and siblings and all were perfectly fine for editing, i needed someone who knew more about the process and what schools wanted to hear...(no one in my family has ever gone through it)...i'll let u know how it goes

A. its unethical (its not you or someone that even knows you) and B. its a waste of money.

First of all, it's not unethical!!! That's funny. They are EDITING your essay, not writing it. There is NO difference between having your Mom, professor or professional edit your essay.

Second, if you have money to burn (like I did) why not send it for some professional editing? My personal statement is 100 times better than before! 😀

seriously how is it unethical? that makes no sense what so ever! anyways, i've been signed up for a total of 2 days now and am blown away by their service. its really been phenomenal for me. i suggest anyone whose thinking about using a service def go for it cause its worth it. i recommend the medschoolcoach.com guys, but i'm sure others are good as well, long as you get a good adviser.

i think there is mededits, essayedge (heard good things about their grammer services), judycolwell, and essaymd as well, but from what i found the medschoolcoach guys are the cheapest around by far, and so far so good.

im glad its working out for you, I obviously just had a bad experience, this time im writing it all by myself.

p.s. love the username
