Yea several schools do it. I don't know anything about SUNY's since I didn't apply there. Berkeley and SCCO have essays. UHCO and SCO do not. Those are the only ones I applied to, so that's all I know about 🙂 The main purpose is to make sure you can write, since theoretically anyone could've written your OptomCAS essay.
