Some essentris questions:

Where do our standardized notes come.from? If.I want to.get them changed who would I talk to?. I am on a service where I spend nearly 15 minutes per daily progress note copying.numbers that auto populate in other services.daily progress.notes. This seems like an easily correctable.oversight

Does essentris have any capability to print our flow sheets for vital signs averages and lab values? Right now I not only copy all the numbers from one screen to another, I also copy them to the paper chart we actually use on rounds.

Is the any way to display different enviorents at the same time? Its maddening that I need to close my note to look at my vital signs.

I usually write my note in another app, like word then copy it to an essentris note. This way two things happen, you can get all the data out of essentris without having to keep closing and opening your note and you don't have a draft there that people are reading thinking that it's finished when its not updated as of yet

I usually go to the lab review mode (I think at Balboa it's something like 'NMCSD Lab Review'), scroll to position the data that way you want it on the screen, then hit the button 'Print Screen' on your keyboard to copy the screen, then paste into powerpoint and print from there. It's kinda roundabout, but it works.

Good questions though. Does there exist an Essentris manual somewhere?

There is usually someone assigned to the command who hold the keys to essentris. I don't know if it is the IT department for you. When we got the "stupid" version (The basic version) of essentris we had to make up our own templates. We spent a year or so trying to get them right and are still working on it. We would have to go to that person and ask to get the changes we wanted, ie having the labs and vitals auto populate where we wanted them as well as meds. Good Luck. 😀

The standard note is prepackaged with Essentris. Have you entered a trouble tix for your request? The prepopulated numbers are an easy fix and should be done fairly quickly. You should have a Essentris steering committee (we had one at WBAMC and WAMC) where the programmer tasked with Essentris maint has the hospital's want list prioritized for them.

Essentris has the same capabilities as CHCS when it come to graphing VS and labs (most people I show them to are shocked by the graphical capability of either program). We had a system at WBAMC that would also email if there was a lab / VS value that was outside of established parameters but we could never get it working right with the provider teams alway rotating.

The environment thing is not able to be fixed. I do the same thing as one of the previous posters and write all my notes in Word with Dragon and AsUType then cut/paste them into the Essentris unstructured note. I hate the preformatted MICU note form and find that my notes are easier to read/follow if I control the formatting. Colleagues agree and do similar. The FP residents that rotate with me are about 50/50 using the unstructured note vs the pre-formatted one.
