If they are really small molecules (less than ~3 C's total) they might be soluble in water. Otherwise most are only soluble in nonpolar solvents because they are mostly nonpolar.
both are soluble in water because they both have polar bonds de to the electronegative oxygen.
however if they are attche to a chain with about six or more hydrocarbons than they would be considered non-polar
