I know it is used for osteoporosis in post menopausal women, but how does estrogen cause decrease osteoclast activity?
 
estrogen inhibits secretion of IL-1 by the osteoblasts. IL-1 along w/ RANK-L activates osteoclasts inducing bone resorption. but remember that RANK-L is more a/w PTH.
