Here's the question:
Which of the following is true concerning the electron transport system?
A. Oxygen is a necessary participant
B. Most of ATP generated in cellular oxidation is produced by the electron transport system
C. The electrons carried by each molecule of FADH2 yield the same number of ATP molecules as NADH
D. Two of the above are true
E. All of the above are true
The answer is D as both A and B are correct.
Is A actually correct? I didn't think so because of anaerobic bacteria that don't use oxygen as the final electron acceptor.
