Hello,
I read in my book that musculus uvulae shortens, elevates and retracts the uvula. Also, it prevents eversion of the soft palate.

I don't understand what is really meant by "eversion of soft palate"?

Google search results are complex and don't help me.

Could someone help me understand?

Thanks in advance!

I think it means that the musculus uvulae basically holds the soft palate in place and prevents it from turning inside out.

It means that it prevents the soft palate from overextending (i.e possibly blocking the airway) I attached a picture of a posterior view of the pharynx to make it clear in your mind.

Hmmm,
But how the uvula makes that?

I just don’t understand the action by which the musculus uvulae prevent the eversion.
