Evms MM 2013-Future

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From what I've heard so far, there was a total of 32 EVMS MD acceptances (16 IS, 16 OOS) and a few MD acceptances to other schools. So as of right now looking at 50% acceptance through the MM program, although that number may rise.

I want you guys to know that there were 41 OOS students last year and 24 IS students. It was much easier for IS students to get in than OOS. Out of 66 students, one student dropped out, one got into another MD school middle of the program, 3 students have completed the program and have other MD acceptances.

3 students have completed the program and have other MD acceptances.

That doesn't sound right. I was in the program this past year and personally knew 7 people who got acceptances to other MD schools by the end of the year. So I'd estimate the actual number to be significantly higher than that. I bet 15-20 people got accepted elsewhere (regardless of their status at EVMS).

I knew 8 people who held MD acceptances elsewhere this year so I'm sure there are bound to be more

Could someone comment on the housing situation for Med Masters students for starting in Aug? Will there be on-campus housing? Are there dorms that take care of food - or do you eat out/cook? Basically trying to figure out if I need a car.

Just got a phone call regarding MM waitlist. i guess you guys hoping to get off waitlist should expect to hear soon.
Which ones are the M1 courses in the Fall sem?

Did anyone else get an email like this? Is this a good thing?

After reviewing your application, we are suggesting a few changes that may help make your resume more competitive.

For your resume:

You are allowed to submit a resume up to 4 pages long. Since we don’t conduct interviews, it is important that we get a lot of detail about your activities so that we can get a good assessment about who you are and if you’d be a good fit for our program. The admissions committee prefers to see a CV format as opposed to simply listing out your activities on your application. Add it to a resume format and we’ll add it to your file. Please see the attached sample resume for an overview of the content we’re looking for, specifically in regard to your shadowing experience and volunteer work.

Did you just ignore the application rules and not submit a CV? If so I'd say that doesn't look so good.

I got the same e-mail, made changes per their recommendations, and was eventually accepted.

EVMS sort of announced at least one new med-masters-ish program today, a 2 year variant, plus apparently more new programs coming. Our dean came from Drexel, so take a look at the Drexel offerings for comparison.

There's no public website info yet.

so sad that evms went from a high linkage to a georgetown esque program

just wondering how did the last year EVMS MM students fair in getting into EVMS?

What's the criteria for getting accepted? I'm assuming not getting any C's doesn't work anymore. Is it not getting any B-'s now?

There's no criteria, no formula, no linkage, no nothing. This has been discussed to death in this thread and the prior thread.

A chunk of EVMS med masters will probably continue to get accepted to EVMS MD, because they weren't too broken before, and because they do great in the program. Beyond that, there's nothing to go on.

The retirement of a legend...
