So I am comparing SMPs and was curious what is yall's take on these programs?

VCOM- guranteed admission which is really nice
EVMS- Track Record of Getting students in
Toledo- I heard that as long as you do well and have a decent MCAT, that you can get in.

Thoughts? Opinions? SMP is a risk benefit to weigh things out so I wanted to make the most informed decision with the most information possible. Thank you.

I'm planning on doing the EVMS SMP this coming year and I've been very impressed already. Lots of resources for helping you apply (an advisor has already read my primary, secondaries, and given me numerous input) and the culture seems very supportive of trying to really see students suceed. Almost 50% each year from the master students matriculate into the following MD class and the majority of the others have other acceptances lined up right after. Also it seems to really benefit students for just being prepared for the rigors of medical school and give you a whole year of exposure to the medical school lifestyle which really allows students to thrive no matter where they end up. It is a bit costly and its essentially investing in a whole extra year of med school but I think if you make the most out of it, it would be a worthwhile investment! Idk about VCOM but I think to perform in any SMP will really boost chances at DOs and totally ignorant to Toledo but just my two cents!

Thanks for your input! Would you happen to know how many students get an acceptance and can start medical school the following year (aka right away?)? Thanks 🙂
