EVMS

Einstein
Pros
Cons
Summary: Einstein is good because of rank and curriculum. EVMS is also good because of the area and support system. At an impasse and just need insight from people who've visited the area/ schools.
Pros
- 160k CoA due to merit scholarship, possibly lower after need-based aid
- Closer to support system. I have friends in Norfolk, and I have friends who may get off the EVMS waitlist
- Better weather and being close to the beach sounds cool
- Athletic facilities seem great. Lots of fields and a large athletic complex associated with ODU.
Cons
- Lower ranked. I'm not sure what specialty I may end up choosing. Right now, I'm focused on IM.
- The scholarship is based on school funding. Not sure if this will be a problem in the future, but it's still a thought in my mind
- AOA + Internal Ranking
Einstein
Pros
- Higher ranked
- Free tuition making CoA before need-based aid ~140k
- No internal ranking
- Cheaper housing due to the apartments Einstein provides
- Since everyone seems to live in the apartments, the community seems more tight-knit
Cons
- Match list seems to be only in New York. I would like to come back to Virginia for residency due to my family
- Athletic facilities don't seem all that great (As long as they have barbels and plates, I really don't care)
- Although the housing is cheaper, the apartments seem cramped based on the floor plans. With the addition of a roommate, this could be made worse
- I've heard that the hospital facilities are a bit outdated, can someone comment on this?
- Never been to the Bronx. From what I have seen it doesn't seem to different from low-income places I've lived. I would really like someone to comment on this though
