Likely for deliberate reasons, there's a complete lack of context here. I'm presuming this is about the friend who is going to apply to medical school (or may be in medical school?). Since this is an ongoing investigation, would the ex-friend be inclined to report as an institutional action (especially if there is not a finding of responsibility)? It's not a criminal proceeding so it won't show up in a background check (necessarily).
It's possible the ex friend is being investigated because the victim may be a current student who is filing the complaint. An investigation is warranted if the accused was a student at the time of the alleged violation.
I will not claim to know due process for Title IX investigations, and given the current political climate, I don't expect there to be any consequential action taken by the university against the accused. This is not something that can be placed as a notation on a transcript, nor can the degree be revoked since this isn't an issue of academic performance.
Lacking any specific details, I can only say the ex-friend will probably not be required to report regardless of the result unless a finding of responsibility is placed in the student conduct record to be discovered by a collegial "dean's letter" request prior to matriculation. Of course, this is a matter for your ex-friend to worry about.
But I have asked applicants: what if you joined a medical school where this ex-friend was enrolled (current M1/M2) or got accepted with you in the same entering class?
