So I'm talking with this student in class about how hard the final was and such(I aced it 😉 ), and he mentions that he's 100% sure that he got an A...

actually, i'll give you the story this way.

Aesthetic God:Hey, how do you think you did on the exam?
Student: I got 90%
Aesthetic God: Oh really? It was kinda hard, do you really think you got a 90%?
Student: Lol no, i KNOW i got a 90%, i already studied all the questions before the exam.
Aesthetic God: How is such a thing possible?
Student: I have the test banks for the exams. It has like 150 questions for each chapter, and the teacher gets those questions from the test bank. I got it online from some forum. EVERYONE does that, I'm surprised you don't. They have a test bank for EVERY text book out there.
Aesthetic God: :wow:

What the hell? How long has this been going on..

Lol, since the dawn of time. Ever watch those frat movies (or talk to your greek friends) where they have exams from the last 20 years in their basement?

I have heard of similar things before as well but it depends on the professors. A lot of professors write their own exams so the questions can't be found in any test bank.

Ya, i found an old thread relating to this http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=914371. I'm very surprised that I have never heard of this kind of stuff.
Now I'm trying to wonder if a lot of premed students do this and if I should be as well, but just seems like cheating and that it'll screw me up later 😕

Another reason I'm a little "mad" is cause the professor in the class does curves, and the students using test banks to make A's on the exams messes up MY chances at a descent curve -.-

Don't do it, cheating will carry on into how you practice as a physician.

Plus, 95% of exams can be aced with honest studying.

No, seems like a good movie actually lol. Got a name?

Not all professors use a "test bank".

I remember watching that TV series "Greek" when I used to want to sell my soul to a group of beer binging *****s, and they def mentioned it. Animal House might have it too.

Plus this genre has been repeated way too many times. It's in the same category as football movies: there should only be one of them.

Frats: Animal House
Football: Remember the Titans

Yeah some professors use them. I haven't used them myself (I won't lie the temptation was there). I obtain good grades regardless. From my experience, the courses I would actually want to use a testbank for (Physics and Organic Chemistry) don't have professors that use them (at my school). If it is a heavily textbook based course, chances are, the professor probably uses a testbank for easy use.

This is why I'm glad nearly all of my professors post their old exams online. Gives everyone a feel for how the exam will be and also makes it fair.

BACK TESTS!

Some professors at my school let students keep exams, so the natural progression of things was to have prior tests as a resource for future students. Heck, some professors even post old exams online for everyone to see...

I go to a CC and I have asked a couple professors if they could post old test or quizzes. They then tell me that they would get in trouble if they did, does this happen at any other schools? Most teachers here want test back and even have different test for different classes of the same subject, its kind of stupid...

if this person happened to be a premed I wouldn't be too concerned with him. aren't these the people who end up with a 3.9+ GPA and a 25 MCAT score?

At UCSB, at least, these aren't that helpful, unless they have TONS of tests and the curriculum hasn't changed, or the professor recycles tests (which i have yet to see). They are helpful for labs though.

It's Bull****, but all the greek houses have them and sadly there is no way of stopping it.

Besides, none of the good students I knew make it through tough classes with cheating. Although many do better than they deserve.

You have to make sure you dont get a 100 and alert the prof of something being wrong 😉

Hahaha, true, though I think we all have either experienced or know somebody who has experienced really high scores. Might as well go for a 96 or something -- reasonable, 😛.
