Exam Krackers 1001 question books - outdated?

Hi!

I am not looking for any MCAT books that "teach" me the material since I am already signed up for a course, but I am interested in tons of practice questions. Everyone says the Exam Krackers 1001 question books for Bio, Chem, Organic, and Physics are good (and the 101 for verbal) except when I called to order, they said these books were created in 2004.

Just looking for some input from those of you who used this to study for a recent MCAT (CBT) and if the questions were similar, or if 2004 is too outdated. They said they have no recent versions of the 1001 series of practice questions and don't know when they will next.

I used the examkrackers books and the 1001 question books for my mcat prep. i also used the 16 mini mcats book. I found them really helpful... I got a 31 (9 verbal, 10PS, 12 BS). the first time I took the test, i studied with kaplan, and got a 26. they're worth it.

I used all of the books in my studying process for the CBT test and found them helpful. The 101 Verbal passages book is good. Also, the Chemistry, Physics, and Orgo books only provide you with free response questions. Therefore they are a great way to quickly assess your knowledge on a certain subject and move on. The Bio. is a combination of passages and free response questions.

Overall I feel that these books are still a great asset, but only if supplemented with real practice exams. The EK books will help you master the concepts but not the test itself. Good luck!

Hi! thanks for the response... except i don't think were talking about the same books! the 1001 series is described as (for example, with o-chem): This book contains 1001 organic chemistry questions covering all the organic chemistry topics tested by the MCAT. Each question is in the MCAT multiple choice format. Questions are arranged by topic and range from basic to extremely difficult. Typically, questions on a given topic begin easy and become progressively more difficult. Answers with explanations and formulas are provided.

I think these are different that the free response questions you were talking about 🙂 thanks so much for your input though!!!

No, I believe we are talking about the same books, I just did a poor job of explaining myself.

The Orgo, Chem., and Physics 1001 books only have multi-choice free response questions in them. They are organized by topics and mirror the progression of the EK books themselves. However, what I was attempting to explain, is that they do not have passages associated with them. they are much more like the free response questions on the MCAT. There are some questions where they give you a figure and then there are 5-8 questions that refer to that figure, but not like the passages on the MCAT.

The Bio. 1001 book though does have some passages with questions (much more like the actual MCAt format). Therefore I was trying to explain that the EK books are a great way to learn the material but they onyl ask questions in a multiple choice, free response style and there aren't any passage-based questions.
