While studying for USMLE I have collected pictures, all USMLE files and notes and all are stored on my laptop and now it keeps crashing and freezing. It takes forever for it to unfreeze and then it gets so slow. Can anyone please recommend laptop to switch to with lots of storage space so I don't have to carry a hard drive around? I don't like chrome book or Mac book. I'm used to windows 7/gateway laptops and 13"screen is what I prefer. I had HP before and it would burn me all day long since it would get so hot so no HP either. Please, can anyone recommend any laptop fast my exam is next month I don't have much time to go shopping for it.

Thank you guys...

Buy a bigger internal hard drive and swap the drives.
No need to buy another laptop.

If you do decide to buy another Laptop than don't buy a Toshiba or even an Acer (both has high failure rate).

Thank you guys for responding.

I'm not sure which size of internal hard drive I should get? If I swap the drive how do I move all the files from one drive to another? Or I'll just go to the Geek squad in Bestbuy to help me do that. I tend to save pics and add notes when I come across new info when I study so my file will continue to grow.

What laptop would you recommend instead? I have Gateway and it's still in great condition, but getting slow and freezes a lot. I am looking to get a 13".

You really think that's a good advice to give someone right before the exam? To delete it all? If this person is near their exam don't you think they would have already started with a FA n UW? I can't believe how stupid of a response that was from another med student.

To OP: I was also having same issues so I started using dropbox to store my stuff. You should look into something like that to store your files as that would save you time.

Ok so let's see. Chances are that is hard rive stuff is outdated so she/he's not exposed to the latest updates; also, reading a PDF (for some people) isn't as useful as the real book.

FA publishers and authors/coauthors get paid per hour; they don't get benefits from the millions sold and made; and i do NOT promote illegal use because there are people out there trying to make a living off of hard work they put in for US to pass.
If you are/were a doctor and you found out there was a "knock-off" physician claiming he can diagnose and cure all your problems by looking into your eyes, you would be upset as well because you know how much time and effort goes into students becoming physicians.

I'm not sure why you want a laptop, I'd pick a desktop any day of the week.

Have the folks at Best Buy help you pick out a laptop for your needs. Imo, nothing below i5 (i believe we're on 5th gen now) with a solid state drive. Along with it, pick out 2 external drives (recommend WD MyBooks) at 2 TB each to back up all your crap.
