I have been working through this book and been getting fairly consistent scores in the 9-10 range (with a couple exceptions). However when I recently took an AAMC test I was disappointed in the 7 I received.

Does anyone know how this book generally compares with the real deal. I'm not sure if this was a fluke or not (in the past I have gotten an 8 and 9 on AAMC exams.) I've noticed that the book tends to have more interesting passage topics- so I'm not sure if the AAMC tests are intentionally boring or if maybe I've just gotten the 3 tests that have boring passages haha.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I think you'll find the opinions on here all over the place. A lot of SDNers say TPRH is actually closest to AAMC and EK is just...not. Are you trying any other material?

That said, I'm doing really well on TPRH yet my AAMC seems to mirror my lower EK scores. Who knows?

I'm disappointed in EK101. The book is crap. Compared to Princeton's book, EK has nothing. I miss between 0-2 questions right now on TPR-H sections. The story is way different for EK101

Just to throw my numbers in there, I've taken 5 of the EK 101 tests with an average of ~ 11. I've only taken AAMC 3, but VR = 11.

Examkrackers VR 101 (tests basic word-for-word comprehension more): Has more verbatim detail questions than AAMC. For example, you'll find the answer spelled out in exactly the same language that the question uses more frequently in Examkrackers. AAMC usually requires you to interpret sentences.

Examkrackers VR 101 (has more subjective reasons for right/wrong answers): The reasons EK gives for answers being correct/incorrect are not as "solid" as AAMC's reasons. Usually AAMC has a definite objective reason for 3 answers being wrong. EK answers tend to be more subjective and opinionated. Sometimes EK focuses on one aspect of the passage, and you focus on another aspect, you can often come up with equally valid reasons for why 2 answers are correct.

Examkrackers VR 101 (more obnoxious answer keys): I couldn't resist but to add this. If the answer key's first line begins with, "WRONG. This answer is not correct...," you are reading Examkrackers. The punishment for not doing well and studying a lot is reading that line hundreds of times.
