I am quite confused by the explanation given for microarray in Examkrackers Biology: Molecules book page 113. I watched a Khan Academy video and it made sense, but it would seem the explanation in Examkrackers contradicts what is in the Khan Academy video?
In the EK book it says that mRNA from cancer cells is labelled red and for healthy cells green. It goes on to say that red wells in the gene chip indicate DOWN regulation of a gene. It was my understanding that if more red labelled mRNA was present it would bind a greater number of complementary sequences in the well and hence indicate a greater amount of gene expression for that particular gene in the cancer cells. So shouldn't it be UP regulated?
