Is scrapbooking an example of manual dexterity?

and say i played the piano for almost 10 years, but i'm not good anymore and i haven't touched a piano since i came to college which has already been 4 years, should i mention that as an example??
I also played the flute for 5 years too but quit after playing symphonic band sophomore year in HS, should i mention that too, or no?

scrapbooking is kind of a stretch.... but as long as you can back it up if asked about it... then sure, why not.

The piano and flute thing.... definitly. They arent going to ask you to play anything for them. But having played those instruments shows manual dexterity.... which is what they are asking for.

i recall reading a thread on here from a while ago about wacky interview experiences, and one girl mentioned being asked to play a song on the piano (there was one downstairs in the building for some reason)

HA! I stand corrected 🙂

The OP has 10 years experience playing... so i'm sure they would be able to at least play something.

That is hilarious. Would have been funny if she couldn't...
Anyway, anyone think they did that because they didn't think she could play it?
Maybe she was just really good.

Speaking of that, if I was on the admissions committee I would bring a guitar in to every interview and call out some of the douch bags that claim they can play.👍

i was in your situation last year. i scrap book and i played piano for 10 years before college but only play when i'm at home now, since i go to school OOS. i mentioned both in addition to some other examples. i think as long as scrap booking isn't your only example of manual dexterity, i think it is fine to list it, because like someone said earlier, it is a little bit of a stretch on its own. however, i think arts and crafts as a whole show an interest and enjoyment in using your hands. that's obviously not all d-schools are looking for but it's important. if you've done pottery, sculpture, painting, any needlepoint, etc. be sure to mention that as well.

Anything can happen in this interview process! They even asked me to dance during one of them... 😉
