Hey yall,

I have been on the hunt for a nice research resume. I would like to point out that I want to include a lab skills section and a brief education including relevant coursework. Is there a "biotech" standard resume?

Anyone bold enough to post a .doc, with personal data deleted, is much welcomed!

Or, PM me!
Thanks,
se

For research and science positions it's called a CV for curriculum vitae, not a resume. It usually goes like this:
Name and contact info at top

Education(degrees, dates)

Experience(where you worked and who you worked for)

Publications(the most important part)

Awards(not so important)

Including coursework or technical skills only demonstrates your lack of experience. If you would like to see mine, I can send it to you

I don't think this is necessarily true. What you are saying might be the case if the applicant is emphasizing trivial coursework or technical skills. In fact, if an individual has experience with advanced research processes such as parallel supercomputing or sophisticated laboratory techniques, these could prove helpful and will not demonstrate lack of experience but the opposite.

I see your point; however, these skills are usually highlighted in the publication section of your CV. 😉
