Is there an online discussion group that specializes in exercise physiology questions? I would like to know if anyone has developed a spreadsheet that will take as inputs the VO2Max treadmill test results and do a calculation at each level of exercise about what percentage of energy was produced from fat and what percentage came from glucose.

When aerobic energy production comes from glucose, six O2 molecules produce six CO2. When aerobic energy comes from fat, the ratio of CO2 to O2 is 0.7. There are published graphs that allow you take the ratio of CO2 exhaled to O2 inhaled during a treadmill test and then infer the relative contributions of fat and glucose at that level of exercise.

Since all VO2Max tests include a reading of O2 inhaled and CO2 exhaled, we have this ratio for every level of exercise measured. I'm looking to find a spreadsheet that would then do the calculations on amount of contribution from glucose versus fat at that level of exercise.

I can develop the spreadsheet myself, but would prefer to use something off the shelf - and tested - if it exists.

If there is an online discussion group that specializes in ExPhys questions, it is not here in the Pre-PT forum. As far as I know, this forum is for those who are planning on attending physical therapy school & the application process. Good luck though.

Is there any group here at SDN where these kinds of open ended questions can be legally asked? I want to follow the rules.

Can't help you with that one. If this quest of yours fails, sounds like you can always create your own excel spreadsheet.... Good luck.

Homework help is against the SDN terms of service. Even if what you are looking for isn't technically homework help, I don't think you're going to find a ton of help on SDN for this one.
