I have had all my exit interviews and I wanted to ask any reapplicants what they thought.

At a "top 25" school I was told that it was "outrageous" that I was not at the very least waitlisted, if not accepted at their school.

My MCAT was above ave. to ave. and my interview scores were nearly the maximum. I also apparently received a fantastic score from a doctor who is notoriously rough/negative on students.

I had average community service and clinical exposure and tons (4+yrs) of research. I also applied as a disadvantaged applicant.

After talking to the dean for 10 mins, he said he felt that the school had dropped the ball in my case, especially b/c I was a disadvantaged applicant with obvious, documented adversity. He told me that I should post-bacc, not full time if I didn't want to and to shadow one last time - and that was it. He then told me I should update him monthly on my status and call him before my interview.

If I do what I'm told, do you think that I will be accepted? I will be reapplying to this school and I feel like this dean was saying he would be my advocate. This school is by far my first choice.

wow, that's a huge honor. Sorry, for being rejected this year. I think you should do what he said, even if it is something he tells everyone. Reapplicants tend to have a good shot at being accepted. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket though. Try for your 2nd and 3rd best school, and one school that you wouldn't mind going to. By the next application cycle, I think you'll be able to breath a sigh of relief.
