Just curious, but what is the most effecient means of paying your bills on the island? I love using my debt card at home in the states, but have traveled in the islands and found it usless a lot of the time. Would it be better to pay by cash?

Depends on the island. Everyone I knew had a bank account in Grenada and got another one in St Vincent's. We all maintained an account in the USA, but this was before it was easy to transfer funds online.

I would not carry a wad of cash anywhere in the Caribbean, let alone Atlanta.

Credit cards and cash. Opening a bank account is general protocol (as mentioned above).
