I have the option of either attending 1)a formal post-bac certification program that's out of state and much more expensive or 2) just taking post-bac non-degree classes at my alma mater where it costs less money.

Can anyone tell me if it's better to take the certificate program (American University in DC) that I was accepted to, or does it not really matter where you take post-bac classes as long as you get A's?

All depends on what you want to spend. I'm doing a second degree at a state university as a post-bacc. I know many who do the formal post-bacc. An advantage is sometimes you have a formal structure and classes catered to students who are post-baccs as well you have your own support staff most times. Additionally some have linkage programs (albeit they are hard spots to come by though as there are few very and many applications). You need to evaluate your time frame for getting in to med school and create a plan on how you will get out there. I truly believe that planning actually helped me to become very informed on the whole application process. Feel free to search this forum for more threads on this topic!
