How impotrant is medical experiance for admissions. I currently am working as a EKG/patient support Tech. I do everything from performing 12lead EKG"S to moving patients to taking vitals to routenly performing cpr when a patient goes into cardiac arrest. Should I look for more?

Depending on your age and year in college, i would recommend taking an EMT course at a local community college. You can gain more valuable experience in patient care. I worked for a hospital run ambulace service while attending college. i was able to work in the ER when we weren't making calls. i believe this experience really helped me to get accepted to UHS for this fall (which is the whole reason i took the course). i would highly recommend doing this. good luck. 😀

I think that it's also important to do some physician shadowing. Try to find a physician near you (in a specialty you think you may be interested in) so that you can get some specific ideas on how a typical day might be in a private practice or in a managed care setting. There are even opportunities where you may be able to "scrub in" on some surgeries. Make sure that you have not only medical experience, but also community service experience as well. A medical school likes to see that you have the ability to become a competent physician through not only medical activities, but community activities as well. Best of luck to you!

I would definitly recommend shadowing a doctor, and not just one, but a few in different speicalties.
