Hi,
I recently got an acceptance to Case Western and I'm debating between Case and another school. I would like to hear current students' opinions on the class dynamics, PBL, and living in Cleveland. Since I was only able to speak with 2nd years at my interview, I would also like to hear more about your experience in the clinic. What is the patient pool like? I saw that a previous poster was unhappy with how the clinic was run. What do you guys think? Feel free to share any insights you may have about Case! Thank you so much, I really appreciate your input!

What is the other school? Go wherever it is cheaper.

All dschools stink and have their own share of problems. 2 years ago, they had a new clinic director and "quality assurance" person and they put in a lot of new rules and regulations (basically red tape, making it harder to do actual dentistry). You can still get good clinical experience, but it will depend on your clinic preceptors/motivation/luck.

Same thing with PBL. You get a lot of time off but it was mostly for first year. 2nd year they basically revert back to normal classroom teaching/labs. Again, depends on the person.

I know that people that graduated a few years ago were not happy with the way the new administration was heading, not sure about now. You definitely gain a lot of experience with a steep curve the first few years after you graduate.

Did you find the number of patients available a problem?
Also, did you find most of the faculty/clinic preceptors to be helpful and willing to teach?
