I just signed up to this forum a few days ago, so I'll introduce myself first. I've wanted to be a vet since I was in elementary school, playing "doctor" with my stuffed animals etc. I'm a freshman biology major now and I have a few hundred hours of animal experience. I am currently organizing all of my experience/hours in one document for easy access.

My question was regarding a vet camp I attended. Would it count as vet experience? During the camp I worked with the vet staff. The vet's showed us how to do blood work, injections, casting, along with letting us observe procedures, necropsies, and radiography, etc.

What was this camp called? It sounds pretty awesome, and I'd say it sounds like vet experience to me, too 🙂

I did the Tufts Adventures in Veterinary Medicine program, and I listed that as experience when I applied. But if you have any doubts about how to classify it, quick calls to the schools you're applying to will answer your question.

Welcome to the forum, LALE!

That sounds like great vet experience, IMO. I don't see why putting it on your application could be an issue (just so long as you have the appropriate contact #s for the vets that were teaching the camp, etc).

Although I've never attended a vet camp or applied for vet school, so my answer isn't really based on much 😛

Thank you all for your input. I just wanted to see what others thought about it since it was a camp.

@BaliDoll -- it was a summer camp at The Wilds Conservation Center. They have different programs focusing on different careers and one of them was veterinary medicine.

Everyone has pretty much answered your question, but I just wanted to say that the camp sounds awesome and I'm super jealous! 🙂
