Hi, all!

Does anyone have experience with any of the following Masters in Counseling Programs / Marriage & Family Therapy focused programs: Santa Clara, JFK, CIIS, SF State, Cal State East Bay, Dominican or St. Mary's?

I am trying to figure out which Masters programs to apply for in California with the goal of MFT license preparation. Any experiences would be MUCH appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi,

I just graduated from SCU's program and absolutely loved it. Don't know a lot about the other programs...I've heard that JFK is a "takes anyone" type of school, and I've heard even graduates from JFK joke about it. San Jose State also has a program that you may want to check out. As for Santa Clara, you really need to be proactive about planning your classes every quarter, though they've recently come out with an outline type of thing to follow. Professors are fabulous, peers are diverse in age, I feel very prepared for the MFT life from the program, there is support with practicum and internship placements...ummm, I really have nothing bad to say about SCU. Well, I am super poor now :/ Actually, if you pick an emphasis, there are hardly any options for elective classes, so don't choose an emphasis if you want to explore the variety of class options. By the way, please realize that these MFT programs are 3 years, not the normal 2 year master's program.
