Hi,

I had a question about the experience needed for opto school. I want to apply for Fall 2006 and I've shadowed a private and hospital OD twice each. One of my letters of rec will be from an OD I shadowed. I have volunteer experience in a hospital (from when I wanted to go to med school). Is this enough or even the bare minimum to maybe get into optometry school?

I'm trying to look for a job/volunteer position in an optometry office, probably after the new year....will it be too late then?

Thanks for any comments in advance!

I think that sounds fairly good. I know a lot of people (including me) who've been admitted with a lot less.

The real point of shadowing, though, is so YOU can get an idea of the profession. Is it enough for you to know that optometry is what you want to do?
