I took the Kaplan course twice at Berkeley, once in Summer 07 and second time Fall 08. I did like the location because it was right next to BART since I don't live in Berk and had to commute.
As for teachers, the first time I took the class I had two teachers and the original instructor for the class was real knowledgeable about chemistry and physics which was great since it was my weakest area. But half way through the course he was accepted into med. school and he was replaced. The instructor who replaced him was average as she pretty much only knew the material to the detail of what was in the lesson plan.
This was also the experience I had with my 3rd instructor in Fall 08, as she was average at best and rushed through each lesson b/c she would breeze through concepts without giving any details or examples whatsoever. Overall, I learned much more from doing the reading on my own and taking the online tests and only went to the classes for motivational/social support.
Keep in mind the instructors for Kaplan only need to score in the 90th percentile to teach which is about a 33. Granted, 33 is a good score but that doesn't make you an expert in any particular section. For example, even though the instructors aren't supposed to tell you what they scored on the MCAT, my first instructor told the class on the first day he got a 37 and only had a 10 on the BS, which definitely showed b/c when we were going through the biology portions of the lesson half the class knew the biology better then he did.
Also, down in the basement there is a study room with like 20-25 cubicals which is definitely a plus, but b/c I had to spend like $6 each time from BART to commute to the center I never used it.
